Upcoming Workshops

I will be teaching a few workshops in the spring.
In March, I will be in Bonita Springs, FL for a five day pastel workshop:

Aline Ordman - Landscape and Still Life
● Monday - Friday, March 31-April 4, 2014; 9 am – 4 pm
● Demo: Sunday, March 30, 2014; 1 – 3 pm
● Medium: Pastel
● $500 Members/$550 Non-members
● Level: Beginning knowledge of pastel and above
Explore pastel painting using concepts of color in terms of value, intensity and hue in this workshop. Work from either a still life or personal landscape photos. Your first day begins with a lecture about color and how to use it in terms of pastel techniques. This will be followed by a demonstration in which the concepts of design are stressed alongside the use of color. Each day includes a demonstration from the still life set up or photo. Recieve lots of personal attention continuously, to encourage your individual voice. Learn color combinations and pastel strokes through creating paintings and exercises.

Along the River...no green

This pastel was a demo in my class to show how to work from a photo or landscape but change the colors so that no major color from the photo is really in the final painting.  It is an exercise in understanding value and intensity of colors in relation to the overall painting.

Decanter

This decanter and stopper were the demo from oil painting class on Monday.  Continuing the idea of painting without a pre conceived notion of what it is, just looking at shapes, color and value.  The students did quite well!

pastel demo on glass

This was the demo from pastel class this morning.  The idea was to deal with shape in terms of value and color and not think "glass"  Observation rather than drawing what you think you see.
