Enough snow

I wanted to work high intensity colors but needed to make sure they didn't compete. It's been a week of fun starts and uncertain finishes.

An Attempt

So, once again I enjoyed the process and was feeling positive about the figures as colors which enhance the light. I think they work for the most part, but as a painting....still unsure how I feel about the result.

I think it's done

Whew. This was difficult and I'm not totally sure it's done. I added a detail of a part of the painting that I felt worked. The hardest part is not having the foreground compete with the building. So much detail there and I reworked the pond over and over. Still not sure.

Pastel Demo

This was the demo in my Community College of Vermont pastel class. Clearly I loved the cherries and the green apple is in danger of being illiminated. Not sure yet whether it reads well or if it even should. Don't want to take away interest from the cherries.

one more rework

Again, I looked at the Farmer's Market and decided it was too light and the background figures were too colorful and coming forward in the picture too invasively. So I darkened the background figures and coordinated their values more. Not big changes but hopefully small helpful ones.

Red Turban reworked

The original Red Turban had all the patterns and jewelry and upon reflection, it was taking too much away from the figure. Also, the pattern was sitting on the fabric, not feeling a part of it. In this version I have calmed it all down.
