I will be having my annual art sale on Friday and Saturday, December 18 and 19 from 10 to 3 at my studio corner of Rt 4 and Quechee, Main St (Fat Hat Corner) in Quechee, VT.   Hope to see some of you!

California Dreaming

California Dreaming...12 x 16 oil on canvas was my demo today.  I wanted to talk about the way the sky can keep the same value but change in hue to bring out the light on the trees

This is a 12 x 16 oil on board and a demo from my oil class.  I also posted the beginning...and you can see how loose it begins...just  a generalized view of what goes where in design.  Then a couple of steps towards the finish.

Pastels Today

Winery Cafe

These two 9 x 12 pastels are from today's efforts in the studio.  I had started the Winery Cafe in oil but decided to try it in pastel.  Worked for a few hours, then decided to do the portrait and it went very quickly.

I did a slightly larger version of this beach scene with some changes.  This one is 8 x 10

This version of the vineyard didn't work.  Although the colors at the shady bottom were green, in keeping them that way there was no connection between the yellow field of vines and the shadowed lower part.  So I changed them to more ochre so that it related.

Waterway

Waterway, my 8 x 8 oil demo from this morning. I used a Dick Blick Professional 1 1/2 inch board with linen canvas mounted on it.  I liked the surface a lot!

Pastel 100

 Thrilled to announce that "On the Run", 9 x 12 Pastel achieved third place in the Pastel Journal's 100 best pastels of 2015 in the Animanl Wildlife category!

Low Tide

"Low Tide" is my 6 x 6 oil on board demo from my Monday oil class.  Trying to return to "the loose"

some minor changes

 So, I made some minor changes.  Still not feeling great.  The kitchen was too wonky, now it's just a little less wonky.

I mostly worked on the middle person's face and a few hits on the guy on the right.

I think I liked the ideas better than the execution
