Liliana's Living Room

So, here is a painting of Lil's living room.  I included the photo so you can see how I cropped and simplified the important elements

  1. Is that a little doggie or a kitty near the chair? That is too cute! God, I love this, Aline! How do you do it?! A swipe of blue, a swipe of taupe above it & bingo--a lamp! You put down all these colorful shapes & produce a clearly recognizable room. It IS a form of magic. I love looking at all your work because it always reminds me to be looser, not to worry about 'precision,' to stand back 6 feet & see what it looks like there.
All of these things are so important! Your color harmonies in this piece are wonderful, all anchored by the 'Aline-coral' chair, & ignited by the bright teal. I especially like the fact that the painting does not look too much like the photo--why should it? Leave out the blotto stuff, add in whatever makes it POP! You are terrific Aline, just a master! 5. What a treat to have the original photo and the finished painting to show how you changed/modified some of the components to simplify it. You are a master at that! I also am enthralled with your color usage. All of your paintings seem to use color in a delightful, controlled way! Wish I could take a workshop with you!!!
