I plan to post current paintings on my blog site. I'm not much of a writer but I do love to paint. I do oils and pastels and I teach workshops. I plan to sometimes post demos and talk about how to create a painting as well.

Disappearing red car
Disappearing Red Car Pastel 9 x 12 demo from this morning. Done on Colorfix paper..cool blue gray background
Aline, this is SO gorgeous! The grayed coral rose atop the gray purple in the trees really makes it. It is also a perfect composition: big wide pathway into the piece, the red car 'payoff' in the distance. Yes, it's a perfect subject that would never ever occur to me to paint--never ever. So what possessed you to snap this photo & decide to paint it? I'd really like to know! You are a truly fascinating artist, Aline. L&K, MaryB
Thank you all! Mary, I take lots of photos that hit me and this one wasn't much really and the car wasn't red...but I figured I could change enough in it to make it more fun. Thanks for your comments!
Amazing. The car was NOT EVEN RED. Boy. I have a way to go in order to 'think like an artist,' never mind see the world like an artist. BTW, I am going to try a 10-stroke fruit pastel NOW. Yours are always so amazing. That pear you did above is wonderful. L&K, MaryB
Wonderful painting, Aline! Beautiful colors and depth... as well as the perfect shadow work!!
ReplyDeleteGreat colors!
