Bouquet demo

One of my students brought in flowers for me to demo in oil class.   I started by squinting and seeing the big shadows shapes and the overall contour.  Then I roughed in the color fields.  Only after that did any specific flours emerge and only at the end did the few light highlights emerge.

  1. Aline, this is glorious! I am so happy you described how you held off until the very end to put in detail. I need to trust that 'less is more' instinct. I love the color scheme of orange & red-purple--it really pops but is not at all 'busy.' There is such drama, too, in that dark, shadowy background; makes me think of Rembrandt. You always inspire me to try what you've painted. And hey! Your video link was GREAT. Just amazing; a mini-workshop. Thank you so much. Are there any others? I hope so! BTW, you looked terrific, just wonderful. I've come to see beautiful faces that show their age as being absolutely dead-sexy. I mean it. I like to see character & 'life lived' in women's faces.
You glow with liveliness & talent & intelligence--you are doing what you love with a skill that is almost magical. How could you NOT look wonderful? L&K, MaryB

    1. Mary you are so kind! Thank you. I think if you go to youtube and google my name there are some videos some of my students have taken. Good luck with your painting!
