I plan to post current paintings on my blog site. I'm not much of a writer but I do love to paint. I do oils and pastels and I teach workshops. I plan to sometimes post demos and talk about how to create a painting as well. Please check out my website at www.alineordman.com

Exercise
We did this exercise again in class. Take a photo and do it 2 or more ways so that you aren't trying to copy a photo but be inspired by the scene

Croatia
Just got back from teaching a pastel and oil workshop in Croatia. It was amazing! I was instructing with www.slikamilina.ca and Lynda who organizes these workshops does an amazing job! She is charming and incredibly well organized and the food, accomodations and places we painted were all fabulous.
Headed home with a nightime stopover in Dublin. Great town but we were scheduled to fly out on Monday when the hurricane was coming...worst storm there in over 60 years! But, we got out and made it home!

Pastel Journal Article
Anne Hevener of the Pastel Journal picked 12 artists who were in the IAPS National Juried Show to highlight in an article in this issue of Pastel Journal. I was so honored...and frankly, when I got the email from her I asked if it was a mistake! Thank you Anne!

OPA Eastern
Thrilled to announce that my painting, Cross Country Skiing, 8 x 24, has been accepted to the Oil Painters of America's 2017 Eastern Regional Show. Getting anything accepted at the OPA is so difficult. I am truly honored!

Foggy Light Maine
12 x 24 oil on canvas
I love the light when it's foggy in the distance and hard to see the demarkation of the sea and sky but there are still lights on the boats and buildings

Fisherman and Swimming Hole
It's been a difficult painting time...just not inspired. Swimming Hole, 16 x 20 has issues...perhaps too many heroes. I started on white rather than a toned canvas and I think that was a mistake. I kept working it but finally have left it this way. Fisherman is 9 x 12 and I toned the canvas and had fun with it....remembering fun!
Off to Saranac Lake to teach a two day workshop as an intro to the Adirondack Plein Air Festival (I am juror of awards). Still some space left in the workshop...should be a challenging week.
