I plan to post current paintings on my blog site. I'm not much of a writer but I do love to paint. I do oils and pastels and I teach workshops. I plan to sometimes post demos and talk about how to create a painting as well.

Harbor in Mackinac Island
This is a 16 x 20 inch painting of the Harbor in Mackinac Island. It was a struggle to have all the various shapes and colors of varying sizes and have it become the harbor.
I stared at this 'enlarged' for a long time & it really came alive after about a minute or so. I noticed the gray clouds over the building & realized it was still blue & sunny over the water in the foreground. In that instant, the painting suddenly stretched back about a mile & I appreciated the depth you captured. I also admire the 'no color' color of the water in the mid-ground vs the reflected blue of the foreground water. And the reflections are GREAT. You surely can crank out a lot of artwork, Aline! Yup, this is a wonderful piece. The background looks more & more 'Old Master' to me as I look at it, dark, somber--a beautiful counterpoint to the bright blues & oranges of the 'happy' boats. Really something. L&K, MaryB
Thank you Mary! What a nice critique. I think you know more about what went on here than I. I really did struggle and it's nice to hear that it wasn't a bust. A
This one is a winner, Aline. Beautifully painted. I love how realistic the water looks...
