Horses, Mackinaw Island

The second in my paintings for Mackinaw Island. There are no cars on this island but a lot of horses.

  2. Wow, Aline! You & horses are a great match. I saw your spread in the recent Pastel Journal & I loved your pastel of the jockeys on their mounts. You convey so much in a simple dash of color-the same is true in this painting. Did you work from a photo on this? It seems like you were just passing by & chose to knock out a painting the instant you saw this scene...you're just that good! L&K, MaryB

  3. Hi! Thank you so much. I wanted to email you but couldn't find your address.
I do work from photos, especially living in Vermont! But I am very gratified to hear that it looked like I just stopped and did it as that is always my goal.
Do you work in any medium?
    Aline

    1. Dear Aline,
My email is Marycpa1@yahoo.com. If you ever have time to email me, I'd love it--but I know you're busy! Yup, I work in pastel. I used to do oils, but now I have a disabled neck & must lie back to be comfortable. I can do pastels on my bed, bolstered by my Rottweilers, but oils would make a big mess...
Anyway, your pastels are TOO fabulous & all have that sense of immediacy, as though you'd sketched them as they happened. I learn a lot by studying them. L&K, Marycpa1@yahoo.com
