Brownstone
Tried this one..not in my comfort zone..."Brownstone" 8 x 10 oil on canvas
Aline! I really like this, too. It may feel 'uncomfortable' to you but no one viewing this piece would ever know it. I am amazed by the way you managed to 'mingle' brick red & a rosier red in the buildings (at least, it looks that way to me as I compare shadow color to sunlit color). The bright & feathery tree is a great counter-point to the solid square buildings. Adding the 'lively' biker gives us a way to understand the large size of the tree & buildings--it is a really successful painting, I think. It's got it all!Face the hard truth, Aline--you can paint anything REALLY well. (BTW, I wrote a novella to you on 8/28/16. Sorry for its length but I just really wanted to connect with you after my long radio silence.) L&K, MaryB
I really like this and think you did great! I too, shy away from architecture. I can draw the subject with a pencil, but somehow in paint, it never works! I like how you gave it a slight angle to the left with the perspective. I would have tried to make it straight with the edge of the panel, which would look too stiff - you gave it personality!
This is so different for you Aline! I really LOVE it! Awesome colors and nice shadows on the building!!! The light on the trees are perfect!
