This proved difficult. I wanted it to be detailed and colorful, but not garish. It went through several stages before I settled on this one. Still not sure.

Egg
At some point it seems every artist does "the egg" It is difficult! But, in this demo, I repeated to my students the same mantra....don't think "egg" just observe shapes, colors and values.

Demonstration April 4, 2011
A small painting that I may do larger but it served well as a demonstration once again of observing shapes, not just painting a scene. I found myself telling one student....don't paint the colors, paint the light.

Boats at Rest
As I dream of summer, this boat painting that borders on the abstract. I don't know boats but I strive to understand shapes.
