Lake and rocks Maine

Did these little oils.  The rocks started plein air but in all honesty, I did have to make lots of changes inside.  Hard to see the colors in the full  sun...and I no longer bring an umbrella since the number of times it blew away got tiresome.  I am in awe of the many beautiful coastal paintings I see...this is once again out of my comfort zone.

Might still work some more on the lake and trees.  I'll repost it if I do.

  1. Lovely plein air paintings - I haven't painted outdoors yet this summer - life sort of got in the way. But seeing these make me remember the joy of capturing scenes on site despite some un-cooperating elements (wind, sun, bugs, etc). You've inspired me!

    1. Gayle...the lake scene wasn't done plein air and the other was though I took it and tweaked it in studio a lot. I am not a great plein air painter..full disclosure. But I am off this morning...hope I see something to paint!

  2. Two beautiful paintings as always Aline! I especially like the second with the huge rocks... I don't do plein air but I have a small pond in the backyard and I can easily paint it from my house... I know, I'm cheating! Lol. Since Hurricane Sandy we only have 2 koi's left but as an artist I can add more in the painting. So yes, you have inspired me!!!

    1. Thanks Hilda...but I don't love plein air either. I did the rocks one on location but then made many changes after. Good luck!
