I plan to post current paintings on my blog site. I'm not much of a writer but I do love to paint. I do oils and pastels and I teach workshops. I plan to sometimes post demos and talk about how to create a painting as well.

Pine Reflection
From my studio today...18 x 24 oil on canvas "Pine Reflections"
Aline! This is a great painting, just beautiful. I find this sort of subject-pine trees & reflections in water--to be very challenging indeed. I get lost when I try to "simplify." I have either too much or too little detail. You have absolutely nailed it. It is an intriguing painting: my eye travels around & around, from the shady darks & blues of the reflections, back to the sunny spots far away & then to the fluffy green foliage. Nothing 'snags' my eye, I just want to keep looking at everything! And this is a pretty big canvas, too, right? That's great because this is a real contender--I think so, anyway. I love it when you take what could be an "ordinary" subject & make it amazing, as you've done here. (You worked from a photo, too, correct? Truly amazing.) L&K, MaryB
Thank you Mary. I did work from two photos I took. I am happy you appreciate the difficulty in making sure it all works together...no snags...thank you
