Practicing watercolor

It is so interesting and difficult practicing watercolors...and this is for me...not to "add to my repetoir" of abilities...but to be the old dog learning new tricks.  The challenge is immense and frustrating and satisfying

In the Studio

"In the Studio" a 10 x 10 oil on canvas.  Really struggled here..wanted it very loose but recognizable.  The artist in the front was the hardest...finally made her "almost there" in order not to bring too much attention to her

Since oil painting class had to be canceled this morning due to snow, I played with watercolors at home.  Such a difficult medium.

Watercolor France

I have been wanting to improve in watecrolor for some time.  Really good watercolorists amaze me.  The process is so different than the way I paint in pastels or oils.  In those, I create shapes by both positive and then carving with negative ones to define things.  In watercolor, I feel so much is drawing and thinking where things go.  Anyway, here is an attempt..a French scene.
