Cozy Quarters was a puzzle...how to make it reflect the lighting, change the colors and yet have it harmonize
I plan to post current paintings on my blog site. I'm not much of a writer but I do love to paint. I do oils and pastels and I teach workshops. I plan to sometimes post demos and talk about how to create a painting as well. Please check out my website at www.alineordman.com

Bouquet demo pastel
This was the demo from my pastel class on Wednesday. Flowers are hard! It's best not to try to draw them with much detail, but to create the shapes with the color and value and carving back with the background color.

"Out the Window"
This was my demo from my pastel class yesterday. Once again, the view out the window was compelling though quite gray. I talked about changing the colors to make it more dynamic while still saying mountain and snow. I had a house in the original sketch as you can see but as I added color, I saw that it was distracting and need to go.

Suicide Six
My pastel class is in Pomfret, VT at the beautiful Artistree. The room where I teach looks out onto the Suicide Six ski area. Today's demo was done looking at that view...9 x 12 Terry Ludwig pastels on Colorful paper
