Winter Blues is the 12 x 16 oil painting demo from this morning

 These are my demos from this morning's oil class.  The bottom one, "Horse Light" (9" x 12") was primarily to show how to take a photo (the middle one) and be inspired by it but make it something else.  In these cold winters, working outside isn't my cup of tea so when I work from photos I try to be inspired by them, not wedded to them.

Aline Ordman - Landscape and Still Life ● Monday - Friday, March 31-April 4, 2014; 9 am – 4 pm ● Demo: Sunday, March 30, 2014; 1 – 3 pm ● Medium: Pastel ● $500 Members/$550 Non-members ● Level: Beginning knowledge of pastel and above Explore pastel painting using concepts of color in terms of value, intensity and hue in this workshop. Work from either a still life or personal landscape photos. Your first day begins with a lecture about color and how to use it in terms of pastel techniques. This will be followed by a demonstration in which the concepts of design are stressed alongside the use of color. Each day includes a demonstration from the still life set up or photo. Recieve lots of personal attention continuously, to encourage your individual voice. Learn color combinations and pastel strokes through creating paintings and exercises.

DEMOS: Open to the public $15 per demo. (Those registered for a workshop attend at no additional charge)
