Sharing the Bench

A tough few weeks of painting and feeling uncertain about the results. Decided to do a small painting just for me...just to have fun. Still uncertain, but it was a good exercise.

Still Refining

Still figuring this out. I thought I'd made big changes, maybe not though. I decided not to get rid of any people, but knock some down and keep the focus in the front. More changes I think, to come.

Park Way

Still struggling. I am trying to play with edges, let some of the figures dissolve into the landscape and some stand out. I think some of them work but I'm not sure yet if the whole painting works

Paint America Awards

I was thrilled to learn today that Beach Romp won the Jim Clemens Juror Award in the Paint America Top 100 and Santa Cruz won the Mary Binford Miller Juror's Award in Paint America Top 100 Mini Award.

Figure Drawing Workshop

Just taught a one day figure workshop on basics of figure drawing. This is about a one minute couple of demos about gesture, shadow shapes, simplicity and values.

Enough snow

I wanted to work high intensity colors but needed to make sure they didn't compete. It's been a week of fun starts and uncertain finishes.

An Attempt

So, once again I enjoyed the process and was feeling positive about the figures as colors which enhance the light. I think they work for the most part, but as a painting....still unsure how I feel about the result.
